    flow restrictor. ..

Just read somewhere that you can improve R
    O. Unit perfomance during cold winter months by xhanging to different flow restrictor in the cold?

im using a needle valve instead of flow restrictor. As the weather gets cold i adjust it to get my rate at 4:1. Got it at home depot.

    Here is a link:

Hi Luke, personally I haven't heard of such
I know that the membrane will shrink with cold water and we loose more to the drain
But if changing the restrictions can save more water is saving money
    But what about membrane life??
Is ok or un will short the life of it

Did a little more reading... and from what I can gather... When the membrane shrinks (inlet water hits the low 50's in the winter... your waste can climb upwards of 5 or 6 to 1... Some people have noticed as high as 10 to one... Ideally we want 3 or 4 to one... that being said 3 to 1 when inlet water is really cold in the winter will be unacceptable in summer because it may hit 2 to 1... When I get home I am gonna actually measure it and get my ratio to 4 to 1!

with the needle valve its just a simple adjustment. Use a measuring cup to verify.

I see what you are saying...
Close the flow to increase the production of good water, and this probably is a good point
Having said that, the membrane is still not producing the amount of water is rated for
... but agree on what savings

Does anyone have experience on running the waste water into another RO membrane like the BRS 100GPD one?

I currently run with a double membrane where my waste from the first unit flows through the second.
Not sure what the ratio with waste water to RO water is right now but I will check and get back to you guys.

the only true way to get 1:1 is with a premeate Pump as this works where the water flow is restricted and only a certain amount is
    released at a time.
